Purvis Marquees Company
History:
The company, which is based in
Edinburgh,
was founded in 1968 by Gordon Pratt. In 1976 we
purchased The Gourock Rope Works on the river Clyde. The
firm had a huge canvas manufacturing capacity and it was
an industry leader in the fabrication of air supported
structures.
Later the company purchased Davies Bryon and Co. who
were a leading manufacturer and marquee hirer in
Northern England. In 1985 we acquired Leigh Flexible
structures and the Firmin Group.
This further addition gave Purvis Marquees the
manufacturing capacity to produce the largest tent
in the world, for which there is an entry in the
Guinness Book of Records.
In the 1990's we incorporated Birchwood Marquees,
Chester Canvas, Alpha Marquees, and J R Clapham, all
based in northern England. This quick expansion has
enabled the group to win contracts both nationally and
globally.
The Royal Master of Royal Household has granted the
company a further term as suppliers to Her Majesty The
Queen.
